Ronaldo: Football Star

Ronaldo, was born Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima on September 22, 1976 in Brazil. Ronaldo also holds dual citizenship with Spain. He began to play football in streets around his neighborhood from a young age. When he was just 14, he was recommended to join the Brazil youth team. During the Brazilian National Championship he scored 12 goals in 14 games. He went on to play for PSV Eindhoven as well as Spain’s FC Barcelona. During the 1996-1997 season he played for Barca and scored 34 goals before he was transferred to Inter Milan. That same year he was voted the FIFA World Player of the Year and once again in 1997. Unfortunately the following year he injured his right knee was not able to play for several months. After extensive surgery and rehab he made a comeback in 2002 at the FIFA World Cub. That same year he won the World Player of the Year award for the third time. He then transferred from Inter to Real Madrid. During his debut with Real Madrid he scored twice. Although he has reportedly turned down an offer from American team, Ronaldo has said that entering the American market is not out of the question for the future.

In 2005 he became a co-owner of the A1 Team Brazil, also co-owned by Emerson Fittipaldi, of Brazilian motorsports fame. Ronaldo was married to Milene Domingues from 1999 until 2003, at which time they divorced. They have a son, Ronald, born in 2000. He was briefly engaged to Brazilian model Daniella Cicarelli. Ronaldo has also been romantically linked with Brazilian supermodel Raica Oliveira.
