Rebecca Gayheart: The Noxzema Girl

Rebecca Gayheart was born on August 12, 1971 in Hazard, Kentucky, where her father worked as coalminer. At the age of 15, she moved to New York City. There she completed her education at New York Professional Children’s School as well as the Lee Strasberg Institute. During this time she focused on beginning a career as both a model and actress. Her first major breakthrough came when she landed a spot on TV commercials during the early 1990’s and became known as The Noxzema Girl.

The following year she was cast on the soap opera Loving. She has also appeared in Beverly Hills, 90210 as well as Earth 2, Wasteland and Dead Like Me. She has had a recurring role on the very successful Nip/Tuck. Her most recent role includes portraying Judy Nash on Vanished. Her film career has included such films as Somebody Is Waiting, Scream 2, Urban Legend, The Hangman’s Daughter and Pipe Dream. In addition to her highly successful career, Gayheart has also become widely known for her vehicular problems. In 2001 she pled no contest to a charge of involuntary vehicular manslaughter after she struck a nine year old boy crossing a street in Los Angeles. Cars had stopped to let the boy cross the street, even though he was crossing illegally and Gayheart allegedly swerved around them to pass, not realizing what was holding up traffic. The boy died the following day from his injuries. That same year, Gayheart flipped a rental car she was driving. Although Gayheart was engaged to director Brett Ratner, the couple separated. She married actor Eric Dane in the fall of 2004.
