Queen of a Galaxy: Natalie PortmanBorn Natalie Hershlag in Jerusalem, Israel, Natalie Portman moved to the U.S. at the tender age of three. Soon thereafter, her family moved to New York where she grew up. Natalie was discovered by modeling agent in a pizza parlor at the age of eleven. It didn’t take long for her to launch her acting career when just six months later she was cast in the movie Leon. Following this immediate success, Natalie Portman was cast in several supporting roles in movies such as Heat, Everyone Says I Love You, Beautiful Girls, and Mars Attacks. With this flourish, she decided to only act during the summer so that she could concentrate on keeping her straight A’s in high school. Natalie Portman’s face was made unforgettable when she became the leading lady of Queen Amidala in the Star Wars movies. This led to roles in Anywhere But Here and Where the Heart Is. In between this film success, Natalie has also performed successfully on stage. Natalie Portman attended Harvard University to get a degree in psychology. She chose her acting jobs carefully in order to finish her degree and actually work in that chosen field. With her obvious intelligence, she is not inclined to take roles that portray the character as ditzy or not quite serious. Her most recent films include V for Vendetta, in which she has a shaved head, and Goya’s Ghosts. Hopefully, Natalie Portman will not decide to leave acting forever for a career in psychology, but instead will bless us with more of her talent. |
