  • May 18th 1593 : Christopher Marlowe accused of heresy
    Fellow playwright Thomas Kyd accuses Marlowe of heresy, and an arrest warrant quickly followed. Marlowe was accused of being an atheist.
  • May 18th 1268 : Antioch destroyed
    The Principaloty of Antioch, which was a crusader state, falls to the Mamluk Sultan Baibars in the historic Battle of Antioch. The city was so devastated that it never again played a major role in history.
