Mariah Carey: A Comeback Success

Mariah Carey, one of the most popular pop and R&B singers of our time, was born on March 27, 1970 in Huntington, Long Island, New York. Her music career was no doubt inspired by her mother, a former opera singer as well as voice coach. Beyond her obvious voice talent, Carey is also often noted for her unique beauty. Carey’s father is of Afro-Venezuelan descent and although her multiethnic family caused Mariah and her siblings to be the object of racial slurs growing up, there is no doubt today that she is considered to be one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Carey is said to have begun performing musically at home as early as the age of three and then went on to perform in public in elementary school. During high school she worked as a demo singer at local recording studios. This opportunity introduced her to numerous musicians and eventually allowed her to become a backup singer. In 1988, after being introduced to an executive at Columbia Records, Carey signed her first recording contract.

In 1990 Carey’s debut album, “Mariah Carey”, was released, co-written by Mariah herself. Eventually the album made it all the way to the #1 position on the U.S. charts and stayed there for several weeks. By 1993 she had catapulted into a position of worldwide popularity with subsequent albums and concert tours; however, by 2001 her career had taken a nosedive. In 2005; however, a comeback was scheduled, which proved to be successful.
