Faith Hill: Country Sweetheart

Faith Hill, a highly popular and successful country singer, was born Audrey Faith Perry on September 21, 1967 in Jackson, Mississippi. From her early age she was interested in singing and sang in local venues in Mississippi. In 1988 she married a music executive by the name of Dan Hill and officially became Faith Hill. Not long after she signed a recording contract with Warner Brothers Records and then soon began opening for country singer Tim McGraw. She and Hill divorced in 1994 and although she later married Tim McGraw in 1996, professionally she maintained she last name of Hill from her ex-husband. Since their marriage, she and McGraw have had three daughters.

Her debut album, “Take Me as I Am”, was moderately successful; however, her second album was delayed when surgery became necessary for her vocal cords. Two years later the second album, “It Matters to Me”, was finally recorded, with the title track bringing in her fourth #1 single.

In 1998, with her album Faith, she began to crossover into a more mainstreamed pop venue. “This Kiss” earned a #1 spot on country charts while ranking a respectable #7 on pop charts.

After signing an endorsement deal with CoverGirl makeup, Faith Hill became even more widely known. Soon after she released Breathe and became firmly established in the pop music markets. The song eventually moved into the #1 spot on the pop charts. In 2004, she began dabbling in acting, appearing in a remake of The Stepford Wives along with Nicole Kidman and Matthew Broderick.
