    Muhammad Ali is stripped of his heavyweight boxing title a day after he refuses, for religious reasons, induction in the United States Army.

    Former Japanese Prime Minister, Hideki Tojo, is indicted along with 28 former Japanese leaders for war crimes. He was later convicted of the charges and executed on December 23, 1948.
