  • 2 January 1967 Tia Carrere was born.
  • 28 February 1988 At the age of 17, she was discovered in a grocery store by a film producer who thought she would be perfect for the part of Lani in "Aloha Summer".
  • 22 November 1992 She married producer Elie Samaha, and she has appeared in several of his films - none of which have achieved widespread success.
  • 20 September 1999 Tia Carrere started to star as archaeology professor Sydney Fox in "Relic Hunater", an action-adventure series reminiscent of the Indiana Jones films .
  • 17 December 2002 Carrere modelled nude for the January 2003 issue of Playboy magazine.
  • 20 August 2003 Carrere was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Philippine president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
  • 3 February 2006 She participated as a contestant on the popular realitu show "Dancing with the Stars" but after landing on her bottom more than once, she was eliminated.

Tia Carrere: Beautiful and Talented

Tia Carrere was born Althea Rae Duhinio Janairo in Honolulu on January 2, 1967. Tia Carrere is her stage name. Carrere is of Chinese, Filipino and Spanish heritage. Even from the time she was a child, Carrere had an interest in singing. In 1985 she was eliminated from the first round of Star Search at the age of 17; however, the appearance still proved to be the linchpin of her career. After she was noticed the parents of a local producer while shopping she appeared in a B-movie; Zombie Nightmare. After this modest success she relocated to Los Angeles and pursued a career in acting while supported herself working as a model. During this time she was cast in the popular soap opera General Hospital and appeared on the show from 1985 until 1987. She also appeared on The A-Team. While she was reportedly offered a permanent role on the cast, her obligations to General Hospital prevented that from happening. Other appearances included MacGyver as well as the action film Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. In 1992 she was cast in Wayne’s World as Cassandra, a love interest for Wayne. She reprised the role in Wayne’s World 2 the following year. Due to her training as a singer Carrere was able to perform her own music in both films as well as the soundtrack to Wayne’s World. Carrere’s other film roles have included True Lies, The Immortals, High School High and Relic Hunter. In 2003 she appeared nude in the January issue of Playboy magazine.
