Shannen Doherty: Controversial

Shannen Maria Doherty was born April 12, 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee. Doherty, who is best known for her role in the high popular teen soap Beverly Hills, 90210, first came to the attention of critics when she was cast in Little House on the Prairie as Jenny Wilder. She later appeared on Our House as Kris Witherspoon. This was followed up with an appearance on Magnum P.I. as well as a role in 1989’s Heathers. Her first major role came; however, when she was cast in the Spelling produced TV series Beverly Hills 90210 for four years. According to reports, when she finally departed from the show, it was not a happy ending. Still, she was later cast in another Spelling produced TV series, Charmed, as Prue Halliwell. Once again rumors persisted in following her regarding her relationships with co-stars. In the case of Charmed, it was rumored she couldn’t get along with co-star Alyssa Milano. After leaving the show in 2001 she hosted Scare Tactics on the Sci Fi channel until 2004. The following year she was cast in the television comedy Love Inc.; however, was once again dropped, this time before the show even aired. While Doherty’s professional life has been quite turbulent, her personal life has not exactly been calm either. She was married to Ashley Hamilton, son George Hamilton, for six months. She was also married to Rick Salomon; however, that marriage was later annulled. In 2003, Doherty posed for Playboy magazine in a 9 page pictorial.
