Jennifer Aniston Rocketed to Success as a Friend

Jennifer Aniston was born in Sherman Oaks, California on February 11, 1969 to actor parents, John Aniston and Nancy Dow. During her early years she split her time between California, New York City and Greece. Aniston’s interest in acting began at an early age with her high school drama club. After high school, she appeared in several off-Broadway productions while working part-time jobs. In 1990 she relocated to Hollywood and began the first of several appearances in short-lived sitcoms. After three years, she had racked up credits in a number of doomed shows as well as a horror film, Leprechaun, that failed to meet success and was considering giving up her dream of acting altogether.

Instead of quitting immediately, Jennifer Aniston decided to give it one more try and auditioned for a new sitcom, “Friends”, scheduled to debut on the 1994 NBC fall line-up. This proved to be just the breakthrough she needed. Although she was originally scheduled to audition for the role of rather neurotic Monica Geller, once at the audition she managed to talk the producers into allowing her audition for the role of Rachel Green instead. After winning the audition, Aniston appeared on the very successful show for its entire ten year run, garnering five Emmy nominations and one win. Before “Friends” ended in its tenth year, Aniston began to build a highly successful film career, becoming more and more popular with each film. After the final episode of “Friends”, Jennifer Aniston has continued starring in numerous box office hit films
