Elizabeth Hurley: Model and Actress

Elizabeth Hurley was born June 10, 1965 in Hampshire, England. As a child she took ballet classes and received a scholarship to boarding school at the age of 12. After being expelled for bad grades she attended the London Studio Centre.

After winning a Face of the Year competition held by a local newspaper, Hurley won a modeling contract and began to pursue an acting career. In the beginning she only appeared in low budget English films; however, she broadened that to low-budget Hollywood films and later appeared in the 1992 thriller Passenger 57.

By 1995 she had begun modeling for Estee Lauder and two years later earned a starring role in the highly popular comedy Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. This allowed her to continue with her budding film career, with roles in such movies as Serving Sara and Bedazzled. Throughout her acting career she continued to model for Estee Lauder.

Beyond her acting and modeling career, Elizabeth Hurley was frequently linked with Hugh Grant, with whom she co-founded a production company, although the company was eventually dissolved. Hurley has also designed a beachwear line known as Elizabeth Hurley Beach, appearing in Saks Fifth Avenue as well as Harrod’s. After her relationship with Hugh Grant ended in 2001 she began a relationship with film producer Stephen Bing, with whom she had a child, Damian Charles Hurley. Although Bing initially claimed he was not the father of the child, subsequent paternity tests proved his claim to be false. Hurley splits her time between two homes in England and one in Beverly Hills.
