Christina Ricci: Not a Child AnymoreChristina Ricci was born on February 12, 1980 in Santa Monica, California. Her family later moved to New Jersey where she attended school. From the time she was a small child, Ricci proved to be quite talented, reading by the time she was three. Her acting career began when she appeared in a school Christmas pageant. After a local drama critic saw her performance he suggested she see an agent. This was followed up with several television commercials. Ricci made her film debut at the age of 9 in Mermaids, also starring Winona Ryder and Cher. She would later appear in such films as Casper, Now and Then and The Addams Family. In 1997 she began to make the transition from child star to serious adult actress, portraying the role of a somewhat sexually precocious daughter in “The Ice Storm.” This was followed up with Sleepy Hollow in 1999. With several film successes behind her, she developed an interest in producing films. She would later begin her own production company and produce such films as Prozac Nation and Pumpkin. In between appearing in several independent thrillers and the 2003 film “Anything Else” she made an appearance on the television program “Ally McBeal.” This was followed up with her role in “Monster” in 2003, for which she received critical acclaim, playing the role of a drifting female serial killer. Since that time she has accepted roles in the 2005 film Cursed as well as an appearance on the highly popular television medical program “Grey’s Anatomy.” |
