    Prime Minister Winston Churchill resigns as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom due to his failing health. Winston Churchill was Prime Minister during the latter portion of World War II and served two terms as Prime Minister.

  • April 5th 1614 : Pocahontas marries John Rolfe
    Native American Pocahontas marries English colonist John Rolfe in Virginia. She would later travel to England, becoming the highlight of social events. She died in 1617 during a return voyage to America.
