    Manfred von Richthofen fondly known as "The Red Baron" is shot down and killed over Vaux sur Somme in France. Richthofen was credited for shooting down 80 aircraft and was the most sucessful fighter pilot of World War I

    According to Roman legend, twins Romulus and Remus are found. Supposedly ther were nursed by a she-wolf underneath a fig tree and fed by a woodpecker. Legend states that Romulus would kill his brother and become the first King of Rome.
